The frequency of your massage sessions will depend on your individual needs and preferences. Some clients come in weekly, while others come in monthly or as needed.

Massage provides many physical, emotional, and mental benefits. For example, it releases tension in your muscles and releases trigger points, which reduces pain and improves your flexibility and range of  motion. It also improves your circulation, helping your cardiovascular system move blood throughout your body, which supports the healing process and overall body function. Massage also helps you mentally unwind and let go of the thoughts and anxieties that can lead to painful tension throughout your body.

Communication between client and therapist is essential to provide the best therapeutic massage possible. Feel free to ask for deeper work or to move a little left or right.

There is a difference between therapeutic discomfort and actual physical  pain.  If you’re holding your breath or recoiling in response to the pressure, your muscles can’t relax.  It’s normal for different parts of your body to have varying responses to firm pressure or deep tissue massage. Your lower back muscles may be soothed by heavy bodywork, but your gluteal muscles might be too tender to tolerate the same amount of pressure.  This is why communication with your therapist is so important.  You don’t want bodywork to be counterproductive.
